Plot Synopsis:
Ho-tae is a popular and uprising young criminal profiler at Seoul Police Force, & he manages to solve a serial rape-murder case after analysing the evidence and modus operandi of the murderer, and predicting (successfully) his next victim & murder location. The police mix a trap for the rapist-murderer, và are about to lớn make an arrest when the suspect was knocked down (twice) by a car. The hit-and-run driver fled the scene, but the (now heavily injured) suspect was arrested. Thankfully, the police has clear evidence that points the injured suspect as the murderer. Not far from the accident site, there is another female body half buried and tools of torture are found in the suspect’s car.
However, Ho-tae is displeased that the hit-and-run driver snatched his opportunity of catching the suspect with his own hands. Thus, Ho-tae decides lớn track down that annoying driver & charge him for reckless driving. He manages to trace the car to a residential address and amusingly thinks the driver must be stupid not lớn get rid of evidence (aka the damaged car). He knocks on the door and finds it unlocked, so he walks in. & not long after, a jajangmyun delivery boy also pops in. Hilariously, Ho-tae has khổng lồ pay the delivery boy, who of course, assumes Ho-tae to lớn be the owner of the apartment.
The real owner finally wanders out, with a sheet mask on her face. (to the clueless guys: sheet masks are those wet paper masks girls lay over their faces) Despite Ho-tae’s questioning, Jin-sook never speaks up. Frustrated, Ho-tae tells her to lớn remove that mask, và Jin-sook’s reply was “Are you sure you will be able to take it?”. Ho-tae thinks she muz be ugly. (…men…) But once Jin-sook removes that mask, it is Ho-tae’s turn to be shocked. Cos he instantly recognises her as the crush who dumped him a decade ago.
Flashback khổng lồ 10 years ago. Ho-tae is an aspiring Fine Arts student and meets Jin-sook on a bus ride trang chủ one day. Jin-sook texts something on her phone and shows it khổng lồ Ho-tae. Moments after Ho-tae leaves (with head in cloud), Jin-sook/Sook-ja pops out of the grocery store & walks in the opposite direction with a hair flick.
Back in the present, Ho-tae is shocked và very happy at the same time to lớn reunite with Sook-ja (whom he now knows is Jin-sook). Nevertheless, he tells her khổng lồ report in as the hit-and-run driver.
On the way khổng lồ the police station, he asks why Jin-sook knocked over the suspect và then reversed the car & ran him over again. (omg) Spooked, she high tailed after hearing the second bump. Ho-tae is flabbergasted. However he notices she has a bad cold and brings her lớn a pharmacy to get medication.
At the pharmacy, we see Jin-sook placing a bottle of cough mixture on the top of a cabinet before joining Ho-tae at the counter. After purchasing the meds, Ho-tae receives a hotline that his apartment is flooded due to a burst water pipe. He rushes down with Jin-sook, & both over up mopping up the mess. On the pretext that it is late, và Jin-sook is sick plus not to let her run away (again), Ho-tae tells Jin-sook lớn stay over at his house. He will bring her to lớn the station tomorrow. Meanwhile, he decides lớn pop back into the station khổng lồ report in.
At the station, Ho-tae is pulled into an emergency meeting chaired by Detective Oh. He reveals that his team has cracked the series of high profile art robbery that has been happening over a few months, và idens the suspect as one Yoon Jin-sook, who he also knows is the hit-and-run suspect. Ho-tae is shocked. Detective Oh claims that Jin-sook is a pro, having stole a Ming vase, a rare tear drop kim cương pendant, an avant garde painting & even a rare dog — all under their owners’ noses. Ho-tae chooses khổng lồ keep mum about Jin-sook’s location first, perferring to confirm that she is indeed the mèo burgler, but actually, he is more worried that he will implicate himself.
Meanwhile back at Ho-tae’s apartment, Jin-sook sneaks out to conduct her classes. Yup, she holds classes on how to lớn be an effective cat burgler lớn potential burglers. During her class, one lady asks Jin-sook how she manages to steal the items given the high level of security in the premises. Jin-sook coolly replies she just walks in. After entering, she disengages the security cams, picks the locks, pockets the item và walks back out the same door. She reminds her students to always stay calm, behave as though you know the place & smile.
